About NatFoE–2026 & IMP–2026
The “20th Symposium on National Frontiers of Engineering (NatFoE–2026)” and “Innovation in Manufacturing Practices (IMP–2026)” are being organized by IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in association with the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) during 8th–10th August 2026.
The primary objective of these events is to bring together promising Young Engineers (typically in the age group of 27–45 years) from industry, academia, national laboratories, startups, MSMEs, and R&D organizations. NatFoE is the annual prestigious flagship event of INAE that serves as a vibrant platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange, enabling participants to deliberate upon pioneering research, emerging technologies, translational innovations, and pressing engineering challenges of national importance.
The symposium aims to promote innovation, networking, cross-sectoral partnerships, and future leadership within the engineering community while strengthening collaboration among academia, industries, defence organizations, startups, and research laboratories. Young Engineers from academia, R&D organizations, industries, and startups are envisaged to actively participate in the event, with emphasis on encouraging participation of women engineers and researchers.
The national competition on “Innovation in Manufacturing Practices (IMP)” is organized in parallel with NatFoE to encourage Young Engineers, students, researchers, and innovators from industries, universities, startups, and R&D organizations to showcase and discuss leading-edge research, innovative products, and technical advancements across diverse engineering fields. The competition provides a national platform for demonstrating innovative technologies and engineering solutions before eminent scholars, scientists, industry leaders, and defence experts. The event strongly aligns with the national vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and aims to promote indigenous technology development, advanced manufacturing, innovation-driven research, and strategic engineering capabilities relevant to national priorities.
