About the Program – Vision, Partners & Mission

What is the Suryamitra Skill Development Program?

A Government of India initiative implemented under the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) and NSDC, Suryamitra aims to bridge the skill gap in the solar sector by creating a large pool of trained technicians and entrepreneurs.

This special project at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, funded through CSR by ReNew Foundation, focuses on:

  • • Empowering women from mining-affected regions
  • • Promoting economic resilience through micro-entrepreneurship
  • • Advancing India’s clean energy transition

Program Goals

  • • Train 300+ women across 10 batches (Oct 2024 – Mar 2025)
  • • Achieve 100% NSDC-SCGJ compliant certification
  • • Foster job placement & self-employment in the solar industry
  • • Establish IIT(ISM) as a hub for green skilling excellence
