The mission of CEEER is to create basic and use-inspired knowledge, technologies, methodologies, and capabilities for sustainable utilization and management of the earth’s energy and environmental resources. The centre is aimed to achieve the following mission:

• Help Indian energy sector efficiently and sustainably exploit all forms of subsurface energy.
• Be a preferred destination for R&D related to conventional and unconventional energy extraction.
• Explore energy-environment interrelationships, including the water-energy nexus.
• Develop disruptive technologies for safer and more profitable energy extraction.
• Support indigenous technology and skilled manpower development for cost-effective energy extraction.
